Thomas Stuart Rose (London, 2 October 1911 – 10 September 1993, Coggeshall)〔"Stuart Rose" in ''The Times'', 15 September 1993, p. 19.〕 CBE was the first Design Director to the British Post Office 1968-76. In 1974 he was awarded the Phillips Gold Medal for stamp design and was appointed CBE the same year. ==Early life== Rose was born in London to Scottish parents.
